Chat is the sending of a text message to another party over the internet. Like most things on the net there a plenty of ways to do the same thing. One of the most popular chat methods is IRC (internet Relay Chat).
There are `two methods of chatting over the internet.
You can use a dedicated applcaion to chat, like Microsoft Messenger
Or you can use a browser based chat like Meebo.
