Applications
There are 3 types of applications. Local applications that run on your computer, applications that run remotely on computers that you surf to and embedded applications that are embedded into the circuitry. There are 1000's of applications that you can safely download into your system. Many are very useful. In this section we will look at applications that don't fit into any of the major categories of this website but are still well worth using. A computer application is type of software that accepts data input. Manipulates that data and returns a result to the user. Microsoft word is an application. Nowadays there are two types of applications. Remote applications (Web Applications: Web Apps) that run on remote computers that you connect to over the internet or network and local application that run on your computer. We will discuss local computers in this section. Firefox is an application that you use to browse the web. You input where you want to go and Firefox takes you there. Local ApplicationsLocal Applications are run on your local computer. Remote ApplicationsRemote Applications run on remote computers.
