Open Source Hardware Projects

Open Moko

Open Source hardware is hardware where the details of chip and surrounding circuitry is made freely available.  There aren’t too many open source hardware project, but they do exist and some projects like Open Moko are well worth mentioning as they have caught the attention of the big phone companies and have a proven use in the real world.

 

Arduino

Another open source hardware project is Arduino. This is a simple programmable board that you connect to your computer via USB. It can do real world applications but is mainly used as proof of concept.
